Let us all welcome to Toronto another centreman!

Leafs GM David Nonis keeps putting the pen to the page (signing guys), bringing young guys onto the team and he did it yet again today.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Frederik Gauthier to a three-year, entry-level contract this afternoon (Wednesday).

Gauthier was the Maple Leafs’ top draft pick in this year’s draft, he was the top player available at the time and he is official property of the Blue and White. Toronto took him 21st overall from the Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League this season.

Gauthier’s numbers include 21 points (five goals and 16 assists) with 15 penalty minutes and a +/- rating of plus-five.

To add to his experience, Gauthier also represented Team QMJHL this month against the powerful Team Russia in the 2013 Subway Super Series, not much more than one week ago today.

The native of Laval, Quebec registered 60 points (22 goals and 38 assists) and a plus-22 rating in 62 games last season with the Oceanic. He also helped Canada earn a gold medal at the 2013 U18 World Championships in Russia. He had a goal and three assists in seven games.
