An awful lot has been made of the vicious injury that centreman Dave Bolland suffered Saturday night in Vancouver and rightfully so; it’s going to be another 2 days before anyone knows what the lines are going to look like for sure down the stretch, and there have been all kinds of suggestions of players switching spots on the ice and possible trades.
I don’t know where the trade idea came from, there aren’t many centres in the league that are available. Edmonton has a better chance of successfully fixing their entire mess than Toronto does of trading for someone like Ryan Getzlaf (which will never happen unless Anaheim’s brass goes dumb overnight).
Anyways, there is enough talent in blue and white that they shouldn’t have to trade anybody to get anybody.
This trade talk involving Jake Gardiner is disgusting, not to mention premature. What would you like to have him come back to play against Toronto after he gets dealt, then come back to burn our asses every time??! Didn’t think so.
Coach Carlyle who has shown an ability to coach this team and bring out the absolute best in at least most of them, is going to have to do it again, as brass has gone out an penned another guy, whom none of us know who he is unless you happen to follow the AHL affiliate Marlies.
Basically a trade within the system as C Trevor Smith was returned to the AHL today and fellow C Jerred Smithson from the Marlies, has been signed to a deal for the rest of the season.
So according to today’s practice lines, the Leaf lineup should look something like this:
1st Line: Joffrey Lupul James van Riemsdyk Phil Kessel
2nd Line: Mason Raymond Nazem Kadri David Clarkson
3rd Line: Troy Bodie Jay McClement Nikolai Kulemin
4th Line: Colton Orr Trevor Smith Frazer McLaren
EXTRAS: Carter Ashton
INJURIES: Dave Bolland, Tyler Bozak, Mark Fraser (may return to line up in time for Friday’s game)
